Ceiling Fan Installation in the Eastern Suburbs

Ceiling fans are a cheap way to cool a bedroom or a top-floor unit during a humid Sydney summer. We install them securely, wired to their own controls.

Fans we install

Fitting fans in local homes

Ceiling height matters. Victorian and Federation terraces often have high ceilings, so we use a longer drop rod to bring the fan down to an effective height. Inter-war and post-war flats tend to have lower ceilings, so we will recommend a low-profile fan that keeps safe clearance.

Every fan is mounted to the ceiling framing or a suitable bracket, never just the plasterboard. In apartments with concrete ceilings we use a mounting suitable for the slab, and we check with you first whether running a cable is possible.

Outdoor fans near the coast

For covered balconies and alfresco areas near Bondi, Bronte and Coogee, choose a fan rated for outdoor and coastal use. Indoor fans corrode quickly in salt air.

Ceiling Fans FAQs

Can you put a ceiling fan where a light is now?

Usually, yes. We replace the light point with a fan, or a fan with a light, and check that the ceiling framing can take it.

Do I need a separate switch for the fan?

It's recommended. A wall control lets you change the speed and switch the fan and light separately. Remote-control DC fans are another option.

Can a fan be installed in an apartment with a concrete ceiling?

Often it can, using a mounting rated for concrete. The main challenge is getting power to the spot, and we check that before quoting.
